What could business do better to facilitate their cooperation with science?

The workshops' participants have identified the following ideas (causes/effects) related to this theme:

• Business people should support more candidates in their practical education
• Business authorities should support more cooperation projects with scientists.
• It should exist a bigger willingness, by enterprises and business associations, for a greater connection with the research departments of universities.
• The contribution of companies in this area can go through the establishment of protocols of collaboration with universities to develop new products and processes that can be applied successfully in organizations.
• Open businesses and invest some resources in research and innovation
• Be part of science work (teams) 
• Finance research
• Finance PhD programs 
• Investing heavily in innovation, creating opening channels of business to students and researchers, sensitize the science into consumer expectations, which is ultimately the foundation of any business.
• Betting on sustainable development.
  Have team spirit and dedication to greater social causes
• More closely with universities, including the possibility of people working in enterprises have the possibility to intervene in the educational process
• Opening the doors to the academic community and willingness to collaborate and host.
• Business can suggest students thesis themes: Scientific research and studies carried out by students are impractical.
• Moments of contact between Universities and enterprises have to be strengthened, above all on the side of enterprises that thanks to their associations can be able to speak with one voice. In this way it will be more easy for Academics to meet the needs of businesses and to better understand each other.
• On one side it is important for the Research to have more funds from the private sector and on the other side to have a more direct linkage with people working in business.

 Common aspects: enterprises should support the research by financing it and PhD programs, and sustaining the development of joint projects. Moreover they should open the doors of their facilities (ie. of Private labs)  to students, and to promote a more direct linkage with universities.
